Plunk is an open-source email platform: send transactional email from your app, run marketing campaigns, and automate workflows, all from one dashboard and API. It sends through your own AWS SES account. This template builds NEXUS AI's fork of Plunk, which adds a single-host setup: the dashboard is served at your URL and the API at /api, with PostgreSQL and Redis created alongside it.

Security
Sign-ups are open on a fresh deployment. Anyone with the URL can create an account until you set DISABLE_SIGNUPS to true after creating yours.
What gets created
- The Plunk dashboard, API, background worker, and SMTP server, built from the fork's Dockerfile.nexus
- PostgreSQL and Redis services for the app
- A public HTTPS URL, with the dashboard at / and the API at /api
- A generated JWT secret for sign-in sessions
Before you deploy
- A Pro plan or higher: it runs with PostgreSQL and Redis services, which the Free plan does not include
- An AWS SES access key and secret, with a verified sending domain, to send email
- S3-compatible storage credentials for uploads
- SMTP relay ports are not reachable on NEXUS AI, so send through the dashboard or API
How to deploy
- Press Deploy. Sign in or create a NEXUS AI account and you return to the same page.
- Choose a name for your URL, review the settings, and press Deploy again.
- Wait for the build, then open your URL when the status is Running.
After it deploys
- Open your URL and create your account
- Set DISABLE_SIGNUPS to true and redeploy, so nobody else can sign up
- Verify your sending domain in Plunk and in AWS SES, then send a test email
Your data
Contacts, campaigns, and settings live in the PostgreSQL service. Uploads go to your S3 bucket.
